Personal Rights and Property Rights

"The dichotomy between personal liberties and property rights is a false one. Property does not have rights. People have rights. The right to enjoy property without unlawful deprivation, not less than the right to speak or the right to travel, is in truth a "personal" right, whether the "property" in question be a welfare check, a home, or a savings account. In fact, a fundamental interdependence exists between the personal right to liberty and the personal right to property. Neither could have meaning without the other. That rights in property are basic civil rights has long been recognized."
-- Lynch v. Household Finance Corp, 405 U.S. 538 (1972) (Stewart, J.).

War is Not the Answer

"War is not the answer."

What does that mean? It's a ridiculous statement. It begs a question. It's like saying "Congress regulating interstate commerce is not the answer." Sure, there are certain questions to which having Congress passing a law to regulate trade is not the right course of action. But, like war, there are circumstances where we as a nation have found that it is.

Do people that carry around signs and wear T-shirts seriously believe that war is NEVER the answer? To any set of circumstances? To any form of aggression? I sincerely hope not. If so, then as John Adams once said, may the chains of servitude rest lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that you were once our countrymen.
